  • ATAGI held its second face to face meeting for 2006 on the 7th and 8th of June in Sydney.
  • ATAGI reviewed the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee’s (PBAC) Guidelines for the Pharmaceutical Industry on Preparation of Submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee draft vaccine-specific appendix. This appendix will be used to assist sponsors in developing submissions to the PBAC for the assessment of the cost- effectiveness of vaccines potentially suitable for funding under the National Immunisation Program.
  • A technical report on human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines was presented to ATAGI.
  • ATAGI discussed actions arising from Wyeth's distribution of a letter to doctors regarding the changes to the Meningitec product information. ATAGI agreed to amend the Australian Immunisation Handbook to reflect both the updated Meningitec product information, and the updated NeisVac-C product information. (The Therapeutic Goods Administration has advised that, at present, no changes have been made to the Menjugate product information.)
  • ATAGI was presented with an evaluation of the Australian Immunisation Handbook 8PthP Edition by Blue Moon Research and Planning Pty Ltd.
  • ATAGI reviewed and discussed some draft chapters for the Australian Immunisation Handbook 9PthP Edition.
  • ATAGI received a report on the activities and progress of its Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (MMRV) and Zoster Working Party and agreed on its terms of reference. The MMRV and Zoster Working Party met on 2 May 2006.
  • The final ATAGI meeting for 2006 is scheduled for 5-6 October.
