This program provides free influenza (flu) vaccine for all Australians aged 65 and older. People in this age group are at high risk from influenza and its complications, with the majority of deaths from influenza occurring in this age group.

The Australian Government aims to provide greater protection against the flu for older people, by making the flu vaccine available, free of charge. To take advantage of the program, you should make an appointment with your GP or health care provider. The vaccine will be provided at no cost; however, your general practitioner may charge a consultation fee.

The National Institute of Clinical Studies (NICS) resource Influenza: Are you at risk? provides guidance for consumers about influenza and getting vaccinated and, information, tools and tips are presented for health care providers, to assist with identifying and protecting patients who are at risk of influenza complications.

For further information about flu vaccination please contact your GP or health care provider.
