Information about meningococcal C conjugate vaccine, including program delivery, technical guidelines and eligibility.

Program delivery

Up to 30 June 2006, the free vaccine was available for all eligible children and adolescents who were not vaccinated at school during 2003 to 2005.

Please note: It is important to remind patients (and their parents where appropriate) that meningococcal C vaccine does not provide protection against other strains of meningococcal disease and therefore, they should continue to be alert for the signs of meningococcal disease caused by other serogroups.

Interim technical guidelines

The Meningococcal C conjugate vaccine guidelines are intended to assist immunisation providers in the administration of meningococcal C vaccine. These guidelines are only intended to address issues which may be new or where recommendations differ from the product information (PI). The guidelines are based on the recommendations of the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI).
